About Us
An Inspirational Folk Music Experience
Three Hares Folk Camp is not just another folk music workshop.
It’s about experiencing and learning folk music the way it was meant to be—hands-on, communal, and full of heart — all in the Somerset countryside.
Over the course of three days, you’ll be guided by some of the most talented folk musicians in the UK. With a focus on both individual instrument development and group playing, this camp is ideal for those who want to improve their technique, while building experience in playing folk music with others in a friendly, supportive environment.
Whether you’re an experienced musician or someone with a basic understanding of folk music, this is the perfect opportunity to deepen your knowledge, learn and refine your playing, and make lasting friends and memories. We are open to all abilities except absolute beginners. Over the weekend, our four music tutors will deliver a range of workshops covering the following instruments: Fiddle, Irish flute, whistle, uilleann pipes, squeeze box, vocals, guitar and mandolin. In the evenings we’ll have sessions in the bar and a ceilidh on on the Saturday night. Look at the programme below for full details on the weekends activities.

- squeeze box
- vocals
- guitar

Bradon Smith – fiddle
Bradon Smith is an experienced and respected fiddle player and educator, focussing on the traditional music of Ireland and the Irish diaspora in England. Through his teaching (2000+ fiddle lessons and workshops), he has helped hundreds of fiddle players (re)discover a love of traditional music.
In 2023 he studied on the Royal Irish Academy of Music’s inaugural Teach Irish Traditional Music and Song course, developing his own traditional music pedagogy. He is known as an accomplished performer, playing fiddle with his own bands The Sunny Banks and Straight from the Jug, and regularly for numerous other ceilidh bands.
He has contributed arrangements and recording to three studio albums; and instrument coaching for a major Paramount TV series.

Hazel Askew – squeezeboxes (melodeon, accordion and concertina) & folk song
Hazel Askew is a London-based singer and musician. She has worked as a performer on the folk scene for many years, most notably with BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominated vocal trio Lady Maisery, traditional English folk duo The Askew Sisters and as part of the collective Awake Arise with Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith. Hazel is a committed folk educator and often leads projects for the English Folk Dance and Song Society’s programmes as well as workshops and courses for organisations including BBC Proms, Barbican Creative Learning, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Folkworks, Soundpost Music, Dartington Summer School and various festivals around the country.

Kit Hawes – guitar, mandolin
Kit Hawes is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and sound artist known for his virtuoso playing and expressive performances. A sought-after musician, he has toured internationally, collaborating with renowned artists such as Yola, Seth Lakeman and Jools Holland, as well as releasing two critically acclaimed albums with British folk duo Kit Hawes & Aaron Catlow.

Dominic Henderson – uilleann pipes, flute, whistles
Dominic is a renowned uilleann piper and whistle player from North London who earned his stripes as a teenager playing at sessions, before taking his talents further afield, qualifying for the All-Ireland uilleann pipe final in 2007, and subsequently co-founding TEYR and releasing two studio albums.
Born into a family of music lovers, it wasn’t long before he was exposed to a vast range of music from jazz, classical, rock, blues and folk. Upon hearing the pipes for the first time as a young teenager he immediately decided to take on the task of joining the ranks of fellow pipers.
Dominic has a huge respect and great interest in traditional piping, but his strength lies in a unique modern uilleann piping style which is reflected in the many tunes and songs he has composed.
